Cultural Surprises Await

China is a world away from most everywhere in the world but a trip to Shanghai is a must at least once in your lifetime. If all you know of the culture is what you picked up watching Direct tc you’re in for a bit of a culture shock. Here are some of the noticeable differences you’ll encounter in Shanghai
The Crowds – Even if you live in NYC, you’ve never experienced crowds like this. Chinese people don’t have as big a personal bubble as Americans so they’re a bit pushier and don’t like to stand in line. Be prepared and be patient.
The Foods – Chinese don’t like to eat three squares a day like we do so they’re constantly chowing down on the sidewalk. Street carts are a great way to test local flavors but head to the ones that seem popular. If it seems iffy, it probably is.
The Buildings – Again, you may think you’ve seen a big city before but unless you’ve been to Hong Kong you’ll be taken aback. Shanghai is massive and it’s easy to get lost so take a map.
